Coalescence – Assynt

Coalescence – Zine by Gill Moon
Are all things interconnected?
Does nature work in harmony to create a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts?
I believe it does and in this project I wanted to explore this idea.
Coalescence is the joining, combining or uniting of things to become one mass or community and I like to think of nature as a great example of this. This idea is one that seems very relevant today as humanity becomes more and more disconnected from the natural world. Despite our growing apathy we are still part of the whole and everything we do has an impact.
Welcome to Coalescence, a new short project by Gill Moon.
This body of work has been inspired by the theme of connection and the idea that everything in a place is connected to everything else. This coalescence is explored in the landscapes of Assynt, using colour to form associations between images. Landscapes and details from different places are displayed side by side so that the thing linking every image (and the defining connection) isn’t the geography, but the colours of nature.
The images were photographed over a three week period in March / April 2025 when the UK was experiencing its sunniest April on record and its driest spring in over a century. During this time wild fires burned around Stac Pollaidh creating the black landscape that is depicted in some of the work.
The project consists of 42 full colour images displayed in a 60 page zine.
Size 210mm x 210mm
60 pages
Limited edition of 40, numbered and signed.
In the spirit of connection I am giving away a complimentary A4 fine art print with every edition of the zine. Each print is A4 in size and is printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper.
The prints are shown in the gallery below. Please request which you would prefer in the additional information box at the check out.
