Singing Sands

Singing Sands, Oa Peninsular

Just around the headland from the Carraig Fhada Lighthouse lies a lovely stretch of sand known locally  as the Singing Sands Beach. It is said that if you rub the sole of your shoe over the sand it generates a singing sound. We tried, but failed to get the sands to sing for us! Instead the cries of Oystercatchers filled the air as they explored the waters edge and the rocky pools. There is a magic to this place and it is definitely somewhere to sit and relax and soak up the atmosphere.
