It was the first day of May and I was sitting on the banks of the River Ore looking out across the fields towards the village of Orford with its majestic church and castle. I had come out with the intention of capturing the sunset, but having arrived a little early the light was lovely – a soft golden glow bouncing of the cow parsley on the bank in front of me.
As I took a series of shots I noticed a barn owl fly up from the rail of a nearby wooden fence and head straight towards me. He flew low over the wild riverbank quartering backwards and forwards, looking for mice in the long grass. After a few quick passes he headed back to the fence where he resumed his watch on the evening.
I took a series of shots setting the tripod up with a low angle to try to capture the extent of the cow parsley on the bank.
