Silver and gold

Silver and gold, Sutton Heath

I just love autumn in the heathlands. The colours are beautiful and everywhere you look there is something different to see. The bracken which has been a dark green for most of the summer now takes on a wonderful pallet of hues, from pale green to yellow and deep russet – a perfect carpet of colour to compliment the white trunks of the silver birch trees.

This image was taken at the rear of the woodland on Sutton heath where there is a large glade of silver birch trees.
